Modernhous Soho was a good hotel, had a nice room with lots of windows, a corner and huge views. Soho is a really nice location, or possibly a bit higher west-village or Meatpacking where I stayed before. These 3 consecutive neighbourhoods are really nicer than Midtown or something.
Didn't have time for the pool unfortunately :-) and evening that's a bar so I wasn't allowed to go there with Jules anyway. 
We got to use bikes from the hotel and cruised around New York every day. sporty, not electric haha!
There are cycle paths and cars don't go more than 25, so it's really doable with children from 15 years old.
