Rio de Janeiro is in the southern area of Brazil, at 3h time difference with Western Europe. An ideal destination if you want tropical temperatures without the jetlag. Rio is nice to stay several nights and make excursions.

2 hours drive to the north of Rio, there is a peninsula with many beautiful sandy coves. The St Tropez of Rio: Buzios. A very nice village with no high-rise buildings, many pousadas, fine restaurants on the waterfront and a lively, charming nightlife. The wind blows all year. Only July and August a little less. Between December and February it can blow 30 days non-stop. Buzios always has a fresh breeze and is not too hot at night. The water is about 25°C, the air about 28°C. The windsurfing club is cozy, but they have a limited supply of sails. It is possible to bring your owns.
