Kusini and Kaskasi are the prevailing wind in the island:
• 4 months or Kaskasi wind
• 2 months with no wind
• 4 months or Kusini wind
• 2 months with no wind
Kusini
June 15th through 15th October approx. South to North winds.
This wind blows every day, permanently, Following parallel to the beach line upwards. In the morning the wind has a speed of 15 to 18 knots at dusk whereas the speed rises to 18 to 25 knots.
KASKASI
December 15th through April 15th, approx. North to South wind.
This wind blows parallel to the beach, although the speed varies somehow. There are days with higher gusts or wind speed. Eventhough one can still learn Kite surfing, sea conditions are more suitable for experienced kiters.
