Introduction
Colona Sharm is the first and only kiteboarding centre in Sharm El Sheikh, Nabq. Newly opened January 1st 2007 and fully stocked with the latest Naish and Nobile equipment. So as for the school it's an all new outfit with everything new and custom built to suit our's and the guests needs.
For those that are new to Egypt the currency is the Egyptian pound (LE). Each one of you British pounds will be exchanged at a whopping rate of 11.4 LE.
Airport info
Sharm El Sheikh Airport is relatively new and uncrowded. Passing through the airport should be fairly painless and create no problems, security is very efficient. From the airport to the school it’s only a 10min taxi ride. The fare should be around 40 LE and negotiated before embarking.
Another option is flying into Hurghada, once there a 90 min ferry ride across the red sea will see you at Sharm ferry port. From the ferry port to the centre it’s around 30 mins and 70LE in a taxi.
Car hire can be arranged either in Hurghada or Sharm. We have contacts for reasonable rates (starting at 100 LE per day) subject to availability. Otherwise you can easily hire from one of the many companies at a rate of 20 GBP per day.
Staying There
Basically there are 3 main areas of choice for accommodation. Old Sharm / Hadaba, Naama Bay and the Nabq area.
Nabq is the newly developed area where you’ll find Colona Watersports based at the Regency palace hotel directly on the beach. Situated 400m north of the Raouf and the Coral Sea hotels. Venturing a little further the choice goes on.
Naama Bay is probably one of Sharm El Sheikh’s most visited places regards to dining out and nightlife. Once again the choice of top notch resorts goes on and on. There are plenty of taxis and minibuses day and night willing to ferry you back and forth to the centre which is only 10-15 mins.
Eating out & Nightlife
Again there is something for everyone. Choose from a traditional Egyptian meal for as little as 30LE or you can treat yourself to one of the many top restaurants. All the big names such as TGI Fridays and Hard Rock Café are here amongst a huge choice of international cuisine.
Once your appetite has been satisfied it’s time to check out the abundance of nightlife. Of course as most places you’ll find your traditional Brit pub, here it’s The Tavern. With a huge amount of choice from little Buddha to Pacha night Club that are open until the early hours of the morning.
Other Activities
Most famous of all is the diving and snorkelling in the Red sea. You have every form of water sports here in Sharm from wakeboarding to the new human powered Aqua Rider. Sharm even has its own Aqua Park.
Motor cross circuit for both quad & dirt bikes, four wheel driving & Ghibli raceway a professional go-kart centre built to FIA standards.
For something a little different there is Rock climbing, canyoning, mountain biking, hand gliding & paragliding to name but a few.
There are your general activities for the evening such as Bowling and Sharm even has an ice rink, 300m2 of ice is a good way of cooling down from the day’s heat.
Hi,
any guest that kites at our centre must register and pay the minimum charge which is the "Service Package" this is chargeable per person. I've attached the price list for 2010. If a guest requires less days than a week then they can pay daily.
10eur /day, 55eur /week
We have to manage the kite area and deal with the local authorities, besides we have to pay the rent.
If guests wish to kite on another beach they will be expected to pay a similar price (the Egyptians have copied us) but without the services we offer.
