Teos

Comment:
Last autumn, I had five days off and needed a last windsurfing trip before the season was over. Teos was offered to me by Travel People and after weighing it up I followed their recommendation. My stay has been so good that I have booked for a spring break right away, this time together with my husband.

We stayed at the Club Atlantis Resort, a very pleasant hotel, which accommodated their guests in two-storey bungalows. The hotel guests are spread over an extensive area, with sun bathing areas and several pools. The staff in the hotel were friendly and helpful, and the food varied and delicious.
From the restaurant of the hotel one has a view of the sea and the dinners at sunset deserve a special mention.
The ION CLUB team with the center manager Serkan is a dream team. We felt very well cared for. Our teacher Ahmet taught us with enormous patience, great explanations and practical examples. By the end of our stay we were able to windsurf safely on 156 liter boards with the harness. Previously, we were only riding on beginner boards without using footstraps. Now the fun can start.
Sığacık is the next place, you can reach by foot over a hill or with the Dolmuş, the collective bus (1,50 TL per person). The footpath is worth it, because from the hill opposite the ION CLUB station one has a wonderful view of the bay and the sea.

The center of Sığacık is located within the old fortress, a delightful little town with nice streets and many cafes and restaurants. On Sundays is a market, where the locals sell their homemade items, from jam to baklava to herbs and soaps.

We went to the archaeological site in Teos after a visit to Sığacık by taxi (20 TL, after a small negotiation). We did not expect much and were all the more astonished to find a gigantic site: The Dionysos temple from the 2nd century BC, which is visibly restored, and a well-preserved Bouleuterion, certainly the city parliament. From the heights of the well-preserved theatre, there is a wonderful view of the back country and also the next bay on the coast. I could well imagine why the Hellenes and Romans settled there. We did not manage to get to the cistern and to the ancient port, but we will do this for the next trip.
