Hi Peter
I worked at the Big Blue in Psalidi Kos for 2 years and live on the island and should inform you that kite surfing is not on offer there, although you have prices listed for kiting at that destination.
It is possible for advanced, but there really is nowhere to launch. On a usual day the beach in front of the center is busy with kit and people, and the rest of the beach in front of the hotel has sun beds. Once on the water it’s OK – but launching/landing is an issue for both the kiter and windsurf guests. If a windsurfer brings a kite partner then this is tolerated no problem – but Spiros does not advertise or encourage kiters as a rule.
There is more space downwind (but gusty at the shore there), but the shape of the coastline plus wind direction means if there were problems they would drift unseen.
Upwind is a better option – about 1km there is a sandy launch. There are also some very nice spots around the island – and kiting becomes more and more popular. It’s easy to reach all the spots on the island by car (drive is just over 1 hour end to end of the island!) That’s why I moved there!!
Thanks and kind regards
Lynn
